On Monday, August 18, during a gathering at the White House, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented US President Donald Trump with a letter from Ukraine's First Lady, Olena Zelenska, addressed to his spouse, Melania Trump.

“My spouse, the First Lady of Ukraine, has delivered this letter. It's not intended for you, but for your wife,” he remarked, prompting laughter from those present.

Zelensky noted that the letter expresses gratitude from Ukraine's First Lady to Melania for her correspondence with Russian leader Vladimir Putin regarding the Ukrainian children who were taken to the Russian Federation. The US First Lady urged the Kremlin leader to safeguard children and consider the well-being of future generations worldwide.

Zelensky expressed appreciation to senior American officials for their efforts to “terminate the violence and end this conflict.” He also highlighted the significance of involving the First Lady of the United States in advocating for the protection of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.
