On the evening of Friday, August 29, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored the victims at the site of a Russian ballistic missile attack on a residential building, resulting in the deaths of 22 individuals. Among those lost to Russian aggression were four children, the youngest of whom was not yet three years old. The head of state conveyed this information through his social media accounts.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends. All those affected and families who have lost loved ones due to Russian bombardment will soon receive the essential housing support, as the relevant programs are already in place,” stated the Ukrainian leader.

Zelensky emphasized that this attack was a blatant retaliation by Russia against efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully. Instead of a ceasefire, Russia continues to take the lives of children, he remarked, asserting that such actions warrant a global reaction – “even more sanctions, and even greater means for Ukraine to communicate in the language of force – the only one that Russia understands.” The president also expressed gratitude to international allies who are supporting Ukraine.

  • On August 29, new reports indicated that 25 individuals were killed due to a significant Russian assault on Kyiv during the night of August 28. Among the deceased were four children.
  • August 29 was designated a Day of Mourning in Kyiv for those who lost their lives in the Russian attack.
