Volodymyr and Olena Zelensky reached Rome on Wednesday, July 9, as reported by RBC-Ukraine.
The Ukraine Recovery Conference, organized by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, is set to begin in the Italian capital on Thursday, July 10, lasting for two days.
Additionally, as mentioned by presidential press secretary Serhiy Nikiforov to the media, the head of state is slated to meet with the new Pope Leo XIV, Italian President Sergio Mattarella, and Keith Kellogg, the special envoy for Ukraine from US President Donald Trump.
“European Truth” indicates that the president's visit to Rome will start with an audience with Pope Leo XIV. Following this, Zelensky will proceed to the official residence of the Italian president – the Quirinale Palace, where a formal meeting ceremony, delegation introductions, and a joint photo session will take place.
At 4:10 pm, the Ukrainian President is expected to engage in a bilateral discussion with Italian President Sergio Mattarella. Subsequently, at 5:30 pm, Zelensky will meet with the US President's Special Representative for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg.
The Ukraine Recovery Conference will take place in Italy on July 10 and 11, featuring a US delegation that includes Keith Kellogg, the Special Envoy for Ukraine from the US President. The event will also see the participation of European Council President Antonio Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos.
Throughout the visit, Zelensky is expected to conduct several crucial meetings with leaders of countries and international organizations aimed at bolstering support for Ukraine.
- Volodymyr Zelenskyy's last international trip occurred on July 3-4, marking the beginning of Denmark's presidency of the EU Council.
- This meeting with the new Pope will not be the Zelenskys' first. The President and First Lady of Ukraine previously had an audience with Leo XIV on May 18.
